Thornton Manor Packs Plenty of Substance into its Elizabethan Style
When choosing a wedding venue, you might consider somewhere that has the resources to offer you a choice of settings for your wedding day. Thornton Manor is one such venue.
Thornton Manor is surrounded by 120 acres of private grounds and it simply looks beautiful. My name’s Paul, I’m a professional wedding filmmaker and videographer based in Manchester, and when I see a venue like this one it absolutely lights up with possibilities for filming a wedding.
The Manor House itself was built in the 19th century but in a style harking back to the Elizabethan age and it is now a Grade II listed building.
While the main part of the manor house is very much a grand affair, the building does offer other choices for wedding settings within its walls.
The walnut-panelled Dining Room makes for a memorable, intimate wedding setting. If you have your wedding here in the summer, we can open the doors out onto a glorious avenue lined with lime trees.
For entertaining your guests, you can choose the Music Room. With its wall panelling, plaster work, carvings and original period paintings, it is a breathtaking setting for your celebrations. The Music Room can accommodate up to 200 guests.
Outdoors and by the Water
Thornton Manor also give you the opportunity to stage your wedding outdoors with two more venues within the extensive grounds.
The Lakeside Marquee is ideal for summer weddings, situated at the waterside, with an outdoor decking platform built onto the water – ideal for capturing the happy couple against a stunning outdoor setting of greenery and the lake itself.
The marquee is a gleaming white against this natural backdrop and its luxurious confines can hold up to 400 guests.
Secreted away in the manor’s wooded grounds is the Waterside Pavilion. If you want a village-style country wedding or some other theme, this is ideal for you. It feels fresh and free, but also private and personal.
Your wedding should form a romantic narrative, centred on you, the happy couple, but against a memorable backdrop and naturally dramatic setting.
I believe Thornton Manor can provide this. You have the commanding structure of the actual manor house, but also the extensive grounds and diverse outdoor locations.
I can frame you beneath the lime trees, or at the water’s edge, and I’ll do it in such a way that it feels totally original and personal to your wedding. I’ll make the venue work for you visually, whether it’s about the epic sweep of a large-scale gathering of friends and family or something more intimate.
Every wedding deserves a setting which can enhance the magic of the event, and as a wedding filmmaker, it’s my task to preserve the memories of it for you in as vivid a form as possible. It’s a task I plunge into with some relish, especially when the venue is so well-suited to it.
