Make Your Wedding a Barnstormer in Cheshire
Imagine a venue that can feel light and spacious in summer, yet warm and comforting in winter. Imagine stunning views of the Cheshire countryside in an elegant setting ideal for a wedding. The venue you imagine is real: it’s Sandhole Oak Barn, just outside Congleton.
Medieval Inspiration, Modern Facilities
Sandhole Oak Barn is not an historical building but it feels like it is. It combines an architectural heft with modern functionality and, as a dedicated wedding venue, it’s ideal for the perfect wedding day.
As its name suggests, the barn has heavy oak beams and is an extended horizontal structure. It is this which gives it its dual qualities of openness and coziness.
Inside, the main Ceremony Barn has natural wooden floors, large beams and wrought iron chandeliers hanging from the generous ceiling space. It also has underfloor heating and specially crafted wall lighting.
This part of the barn can hold 145 guests for a civil ceremony, and 180 guests for an evening reception. It leads on to the Dining Barn, where you can hold your wedding breakfast.
The space is adaptable, however, and would also suit more intimate gatherings and celebrations.
The barn also provides excellent entertainment facilities, along with a licensed bar. For young families, there are high chairs and baby-changing areas.
There is a separate Small Barn providing an excellent area for you and any early guests to relax in before the main event. It comes with its own kitchen facilities and faces onto a small, fenced garden area.
Taking it Outside
Sandhole Oak Barn sits beside a lake, making for a beautiful outdoor location with cinematic qualities. There is a Clock Tower, providing an ideal outdoor, and sheltered location for filming parts of your wedding day.
Looking out over the lake, you can have your entire wedding ceremony outdoors, centred on the Clock Tower, licensed for ceremonies. The paved area provides seating – and shelter if it rains – and if you want to carry on with the outdoor theme, you can arrange a barbeque as part of your evening celebrations.
There are also outdoor heaters under the eaves of the barn, so when it gets later, and chillier, you’ll still be able to enjoy the whole outdoor atmosphere.
You get the best of both worlds, here: the feeling of a magical outdoor setting, with the lake and grounds; combined with the great indoor facilities and welcoming spaciousness of the barn itself.
My name’s Paul and I’m a wedding filmmaker. I think Sandhole Oak Barn is a great venue to film in, and around. Its lakeside setting provides a perfect natural backdrop, with great views when the sun sets. And inside the barn you can live out your own fairytale wedding.
