A Truly Dramatic Setting for Your Wedding at Peckforton Castle
If you’re looking for a dramatic gesture when it comes to your wedding day, then picking the right setting is crucial. This can be the thing that helps make your wedding even more memorable.
And when it comes to filming your wedding, you’ll be able to relive it again and again, re-experiencing the excitement, emotion and drama of the day.
Peckforton crosses historical eras, as a medieval-style castle built in Victorian times. It was originally contrived as an imposing structure on the landscape and it remains so.
Deep in the Cheshire countryside, near the village of Tarporley, the castle is set amid woodland, in a dramatic, fortified crescent circling a verdant lawn and bordering driveway.
With battlements, turrets and a grand gatehouse, it feels like the real deal, though in age it is relatively young. It was converted into a hotel at the end of the 1980s and has since established itself as a notable wedding venue.
Get Married in Timeless Style
With its sweeping drive and fabulous views of the surrounding Cheshire countryside, Peckforton Castle makes otherwise impossibly romantic dreams possible.
It provides the perfect venue for any number of guests, from as few as 10 to as many as over 200. The castle is not just one great wedding location, but several, captured in a single space.
Each of the castle’s areas can become a unique wedding setting, from the grandiose great hall with its stained-glass windows and minstrel’s gallery – the ideal location for a live musical accompaniment – licensed for civil marriage and partnership ceremonies; to the chapel, where you can have your wedding blessed; while the more intimate Hexagonal Room, with its unique style and cosy log fire provides an alternative location for a ceremony.
The castle’s wine cellar is a great place for your drinks reception. Deep in the heart of the castle’s foundations, the cellar has a captivating circular bar that is candle-lit, a maximum capacity of 80 people and its own built-in PA system. You can also book it as your own late night hang-out for all your guests.
The drawing room is Peckforton Castle’s largest function room, perfect for the wedding breakfast. With its windows draped in almost decadently heavy red curtains, and its wall tapestries and chandeliers, it’s a great scene-setter for your celebrations.
It can seat up to 165 guests, but if you use if for your evening reception it can accommodate as many as 250.
For a more intimate reception, choose the library, which can seat up to 30 guests, retaining a sense of private grandeur.
On your wedding day, the castle is for your exclusive use, unique to your celebrations, and having it to yourself will give you a great sense of privilege and freedom – something your wedding film will be able to highlight, exploiting the full dramatic and aesthetic possibilities of the setting.
