A Lancashire Love Story at Ashfield House
Overlooking the Douglas Valley in Standish, Wigan, Ashfield House is an exclusive wedding venue that really lives up to its billing. Built in 1755 and extended in 1872, it was the home to a succession of prominent northern figures before becoming a hotel in the early 1990s.
Since then it has undergone various, comprehensive refurbishment works, up to its present status as an award winning dedicated wedding and event venue.
Period Features and Perfect Weddings
What does a venue add to a wedding? The true character of an individual wedding story comes from the participants, the bride, groom, family and friends. But the setting for this story has an important role to play, in shaping the feel of the wedding and, also, to an extent, the pace and mood of the narrative.
Ashfield house has certain dramatic period features to help fill in the detail of your wedding. It has a gorgeous panelled library which serves as a bar; imposing bay windows and ornate columns; and a large main staircase that provides a dramatic centrepiece.
There are smaller reception rooms available for more intimate weddings, but Ashfield House can hold up to 250 guests for a truly grand evening reception.
For your ceremony and wedding breakfast the house can accommodate up to 130 guests.
The Personal Touch
Although it is a dedicated, specialist events venue, Ashfield House retains a very personalised approach to hosting weddings. This is important because your wedding is so personal to you, naturally, and you want to be looked after but also to feel you are in control of events.
This is a perfect fit for In Love Wedding Films, because we also believe in getting to know our clients, so that when we film their weddings we are capturing something of the essence of them on film. Like Ashfield House, we take care of all the details, but we understand that the day is all about you.
Weddings take place in different contexts at the same time: there are the various interconnected relationships of family and friends; and then there is the chosen location and all that comes with it. As a setting and backdrop to these events, the house provides plenty of variation, both inside and out. There are the gorgeous interiors and small details; and the grounds and views are beautiful.
